Last, but certainly not least
was Riley Stevens, a
6-year-old student in the ESE Program at Holm Elementary.
He has several diagnosis that
challenge his family on a daily basis but the Stevens family
doesn't
let those stand in their way of having fun together and with
others. Preparing for this year's Marathon was terrific -
the family even got Riley's 81-year-old grandmother
involved. Riley has played in the Miracle League and has
participated in SEASTARS Aquatics since he was 3.
What is the Kids Marathon?
The Pensacola YMCA Kids Marathon is an opportunity for young
runners & walkers in grades K-8th to develop healthy exercise
and nutrition habits as they participate in a marathon
modified just for kids.
Kids can register and participate individually or as a
member of a group organized by schools, churches or other
organizations. Each participant will have 5 weeks to run,
walk or wheelchair 25 miles in ½ or 1 mile intervals while
tracking their progress on the special Kids Marathon
tracking log.
Then on the day of the marathon, they complete their full
marathon as they run / walk or wheelchair the final 1.2
miles and cross the official finish line of the Pensacola
Marathon course.
